Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson has challenged his side to end the their disappointing season on a high by remaining unbeaten for the final four games.Town enter the weekend knowing the right combination of results from their home clash with Wrexham on Sunday and in games elsewhere tomorrow could see them guarantee their League Two survival with three matches to spare.
Encouraged by Tuesday night’s promising display in the 1-1 draw at Morecambe, Simpson is eyeing a profitable return of points as the season comes to a close.
“I don’t like losing football matches and I want us to go unbeaten for the rest of the season,” he said.
“We have got a couple of home games, we go to Mansfield where a result for us could put them down and then we go to Rochdale who could be in the play-offs by then so we could spoil their party.
“We have got to be professional about everything we do because we want to finish the season strongly and carry some momentum through to pre-season.
“As a manager it makes life easier if you are winning games and it’s the same as a player because it’s much easier to come into a winning team.
“We are out at games tomorrow and I will have a look at the other results involving teams at the bottom when they have finished.
“But we just want to concentrate on ourselves and doing our jobs right for the final four games, starting on Sunday.”
Simpson, meanwhile, is hoping to welcome midfielder David Hunt back into his plans for Sunday’s derby.
The former Northampton man was due to return to training today after a four week absence with a shoulder and hip problem sustained at Macclesfield.
The Town boss was also set to run the rule over on-loan defender Graeme Lee to see whether he has sufficiently recovered from the facial injury which required 20 stitches last week to come back into contention.
But Kelvin Langmead, Martin Riley and Andy Cooke all face missing the derby as they continue to nurse injuries.

More predictions and expectations? Hope he hasn’t just shot himself in the foot. Look what happened to Glyn Garner when he got his “lucky” haircut before last weeks game. I wish they would just concentrate on getting three points out of the next game.
One win in the last 20 and on the back of that it seems possible to go the next 4 unbeaten, wheres the logic!!!
Salop expects….
i wish all concerned good luck in the unbeaten run but have grave concerns about the rochdale result but with town with their tales up and morale rising, with a little gentle encouragement from the manager all things are possible
