Police plea to callers

police_car2.jpgPolice covering Shropshire were today forced to urge non-emergency callers not to phone them due to problems with the force’s computer system.

Emergency calls were not affected, but West Mercia Police was experiencing technical difficulties with its computer systems and staff were having problems logging information from callers.

A police spokeswoman said the phone system was working but information could not be logged in the usual way.

She said non-emergency callers were asked to delay reporting matters until the problem was fixed.

Oh dear, I do hope the designers of the new communications building at Battlefields aren’t the same one’s responsible for Heathrow’s T5 building.

i won’t bother the police if a burglar as his hands around my throat,or if i see my car stereo being ripped out of my car,yet my council tax bill for the police as gone up again, plus we don’t see any police about anyway, only if a victim hits a lowlife then they come in loads to arrest the victim, lawless britain, yet another excuse from the law.

Am I given to understand that people still telephone the Police. I thought that they did away with the Police years ago.

Haven’t they heard of that fine non-digital back-up hardware: pen and paper?

The above comments in their entirety (and I suspect the rest to come on this pathetic and incompetent episode) should be forwarded to the Chief Constable of West Mercia police thus he may perhaps take heed of public opinion and finally get on with the task of performance and not endless and franlky tedious self praise and nonsense about falling crime in its website pages, which is singularly the shoddiest by way of content, layout and image definition of any police forces website in the UK.

What a brilliant way to cut the crime rate - don’t bother fixing the systems and all crime will disappear. A truly innovative piece of genius - well done west mercia - now lets roll it out across the rest of the uk.

I think its unfair to slate the police as most of them are trying to do the best they can in a difficult world. There is suo much paperwork, politics etc that stop police from getting out there and doing their job.

Imagine how frustrating it must be to catch a prolific criminal only for them to be rapped over the knuckles by some soft judge? Frustrating i think!

I agree with Shropshire Lad, many of us break the law every day but dont consider ourselves to be wrong.

£2 million plus spent and they still can’t get it right, I don’t know about calling it T5, Billy Smarts would seem to be more appropriate, and now I see officers are now being commended for doing the job they joined up to do. You know when their backs are against the wall when we are drip fed this tosh.
