Sylvan looks to the future

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake put Wolves ahead after 15 minutes with a snap shot.Wolves’ man of the moment Sylvan Ebanks-Blake wants to stay at Molineux for the long term as the Premier League vultures assess his potential.

Weekend speculation saw the Championship’s 22-goal top scorer linked with a £3m move to Everton after scoring nine goals in his first 14 games.

Toffees boss David Moyes, who signed Joleon Lescott for £5m and is regularly having Wayne Hennessey watched, is reportedly a big fan of Ebanks-Blake.

But the powerhouse striker wants to remain at Wolves and is determined to help the club to promotion.

“I want to be here for the long term and do things right - I’ve signed for four and a half years,” said Ebanks-Blake. “I hope so - that’s the plan. I always set myself high targets and I didn’t want to come here, score a couple of goals and fade away.

“What I’m doing now is going to shape the rest of my career. People talk about records now but I prefer to look back at the end of my career and see at what I’ve done then. Hopefully it will be a lot.”

Ebanks-Blake wants to carve himself a name at Wolves alongside the greats.

“To achieve half what Bully did would be amazing and I suppose it’s something to work towards,” he said. “But for me now it’s about enjoying playing. I can’t guarantee I’ll score but I’ll guarantee 100 per cent.

“I’ll chase lose causes, work hard for the team and I’ll be a nuisance to the opposition defence. I look after myself and work hard every day to try to be the best I can be which is all I’ve ever wanted. I can’t be Pele or Maradona - despite what people say! - but I can be the best I can be.”

Meanwhile Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has responded reports linking him with a move for Freddy Eastwood by dismissing any interest in the Wolves striker.
