The new top police officer in Powys says he is looking forward to the challenges posed by the post.
Ian Arundale has just been named as the new chief constable of Dyfed-Powys Police.
Currently deputy chief constable of West Mercia Police, Mr Arundale will take up his new role on June 2, it was announced today.
He succeeds Terry Grange who retired from the force in November following allegations of computer misuse and financial irregularities.
Mr Arundale said: “I am delighted and privileged to have been appointed chief constable of Dyfed-Powys Police.
“I have now fulfilled a lifelong ambition to lead a constabulary and I am extremely pleased I have managed to fulfil this ambition within the Dyfed-Powys Police area.
“The force has considerable strengths and an enviable track record of performance and engagement with its partners and communities.
“My efforts over the forthcoming years will be to build upon those strengths and I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
“Having previously served with the South Wales Constabulary, I have more than 20 years’ experience of serving in Wales.”
The new assistant chief constable of the force said he was also delighted at his appointment.
Nicholas Ingram said: “I look forward to taking forward a successful programme of neighbourhood policing across the force area.”
