Organisers of the biggest ever 1960s transport day at the Severn Valley Railway have hailed the event a huge success.
Almost 2,000 people turned up to see the best of British motors rolled out across the Severn Valley Railway’s stations over the weekend.
This was the first special event since the full 16-mile track opened on Good Friday following last year’s flood devastation.
Rob Whale, co-ordinator of the event, said a charter train from London had also arrived on Saturday.
He said: “All the trains I saw and travelled on were very busy. On some of them there was standing room only. I was delighted that the majority of the 150 motors turned up.
“There’s always non-starters and some people are put off by the weather forecast, but it was a really good turn-out. Everyone I spoke to said they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
“I’m extremely pleased with how it all went.”
John Leach, marketing manager, said 1,700 people visited the railway on Saturday.
He said: “I’m very pleased indeed.”
