Officers agree to prioritise parking

parking-restrictions.jpgIllegal parking is to be targeted in a Mid Wales town in a bid to tackle a rise in traffic congestion.

Police in Welshpool will attempt to clamp down on illegal parkers after residents aired their concerns at a Partners and Communities Together meeting.

The PACT scheme has been set up by Welshpool police and Welshpool Town Council to allow people to voice concerns on issues in their neighbourhood.

The meeting heard people were becoming increasingly concerned at the number of vehicles parking illegally in the town.

They also expressed concern about the amount of time delivery lorries spent in loading bays.

Constable Lyndsay Sweetman, Welshpool beat officer, said she, Constable Jim Baines and police community support officers would make it a top priority.

One resident from Welshpool, who did not want to be named, said she was having serious difficulty getting around.
