i for one am now very concerned about town’s league position. most of their remaining games are away from home. remaining games include wrexham. chester and macclesfield but are the squad confident enough to get points here. 6 weeks ago gary peters wanted 10 points for safety, since then we have drawn 3 times, twice against top teams courtesy of macca and once under the new regime. by my reckoning that leaves us 7 more points to get. WHERE?

I still don’r think Town will be relegated, but I agree it don’t look that good.
I think we have a chance to get 6 points from the local derbies, and I think that, that will do it and preventing us for going down.

It may be wishful thinking on your part devon salopian in an effort to get those precious points, but the Town have already played Macclesfield twice!!

Wrexham and Mansfield look as though they are there for the taking; the only question is, can Town deliver?

If we hadn’t started the season on fire and took point when we didn’t deserve them we would now be staring at the conference. We must get points, look what happened a few years ago we were confident of staying up as we had games in hand, then we went into freefall and lost the lot. we must not get complacent relegation is a real worry. For the record I also dont think we will go down, lightning cant strike twice can it?

i don’t think mansfield or wrexham will get the points they need to stay up, even if we don’t win another match this season.
Although condemning wrexham to the pit of non-league football will help get me through the summer

we play half of our remaining matches against teams below us, to say it’s in our own hands is an understatement. we don’t have to rely on other teams doing us a favour. for a team involved in a relgation scrap, you can’t ask for more.

one thing is for sure - we are NOT too good to go down. i read some of the players comments, (that they shouldn’t be there, embarassed when they look at the teams around, should be at the top etc) and it smacks of complacency. If you look at a league table of the last 20 odd matches, we’re bottom by a long way. We are where we are because other teams have outperformed us on the pitch. Time to look the problem in the face, and knuckle down to fix it where it counts - on the pitch not in media soundbites.

I still don’t think the players actually want it enough.

sorry trebor i am always confusing mansfield and macclesfield, the reality is that town need players who can make goals and others who can score goals, or both, i suggest they may have both but a litany of bad results is sapping their morale. i just hope the players confidence can be lifted to produce a flourish to the end of this particularly poor season. perhaps a midweek break would help, 2 nights in the lakes, the mere, cole mere etc. when they do score, watch out the opposition, it might be a goal rush.

Well said Andy, While our lot are busy slapping themselves on the back and saying they are in a false position and they are to good to be down here, other teams will knuckle down and pick up a few points that could leave us staring at the conference. If the season had started in December we would now be dead and buried. We are where we are because we deserve to be there. The league table does not lie.

The players should be playing for pride and think about where they want to be next season, for sure some of them are going to be worse off.

wrexham and mansfield may be doomed to drop but they wont lie down for us to walk over them. they are going to be as hard as rotherham and darlo etc as they have some pride to fight for and none more than in winning a derby. so town, watch out no more bs, just some good results.
