Injured rider is airlifted

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after crashing on a Mid Wales road.

The incident happened on the A483 near Cynghordy, Llandovery, just before 4.40pm yesterday.

Firefighters from Llanwrtyd Wells were called to help ambulance crews move the 45-year-old man.

He was airlifted to Morriston Hospital, Swansea. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

A woman was also hurt when two cars collided in Four Crosses, near Llanymynech, yesterday.

The 41-year-old was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with minor injuries following the collision at about 12.20pm. No-one else was hurt.

Another woman had a lucky escape when her car was forced off a Mid Wales road by another vehicle.

Dyfed-Powys Police today appealed for witnesses to the hit-and-run crash. The collision occurred on the A458 between Llanfair Caereinion and Llanerfyl yesterday, at about 5.15pm yesterday.

Police said a Ford Focus travelling towards Llanerfyl and an as yet unidentified black people carrier-type vehicle heading towards Llanfair were in collision near the Bluebell Nursery.

“The people carrier was allegedly overtaking when it forced the Focus off the road, causing substantial damage to its offside,” said a spokesman. “Fortunately the female driver was uninjured.”

Witnesses can call police on 08453 302000.
