New manager Paul Simpson admits he may not be able to give every member of his Shrewsbury Town squad their chance to shine between now and the end of the season, writes Chris Hudson.
Simpson has pledged to take time assessing his League Tow squad before deciding in the summer who he has to ship out and who he wants to keep.
And he has promised he will start experimenting to some degree as soon as he knows his side are safe from the spectre of relegation.
But, while wanting to give everyone the opportunity to make their case, he admits he will not risk poor results for the sake of fairness.
“Once we have got the points to get us safe then it will give us the chance to look at others - but I’m making no promises that everyone will get a game,” he declared.
“I want to take a look at the players in my squad and give them as fair a crack of the whip as possible.
“But I came here to win football matches and I’m not going to do things that give us a chance of losing a game.
“There’s no point in asking supporters to come out and support us and then put a side out to go and lose.
“That wouldn’t be fair on them and I will not do that - and it’s about finding the right balance.”
