Not fair to smokers!

Re the proposed ban on cigarette display - I am a non-smoker, and glad that I am, but the Government has gone too far!

They will pass a law next that all smokers will be treated as lepers and wear a notice saying “unclean”.

The human rights of smokers have been badly let down; there’s no reason why licensed premises can’t have a smoking room.

Putting cigarettes out of sight will make things worse, they will still be obtained.

Come on people, there must be some give and take on this!

This is just more New Labour bullying.

If this government genuinely cared about the health of the British people, they wouldn’t be building on our green spaces and recreational areas. They wouldn’t allow so many of our children and old folk to live in such poor conditions.

Treat them as lepers…put a sign around their necks displaying ‘unclean’…now there’s an idea!

It seems quite reasonable to me. We need to do what we can to cut down on youngsters taking up smoking and this will help with that. I’d also double the cost of tabacco products.

Re the “unclean” notice, its hardly warranted. You can smell their stink a mile away so it’d be superfluous.

Re a smoking room, staff would need to collect glasses and so on from the room. If it were smokey in there it’d be contrary to the staff’s right to enjoy a smoke free workplace. A big well done to the government for stopping smoking on licenced premises. The sooner they get rid of the remaining exceptions, the better.

Try walking down the road/street without taking secondhand smoke from someone “enjoying” his puf of smoke.
I for one would love to have a non-smoking street/road and see how that for smokers !
For smokers who smoke free outside have anyone of you throught about the seondhand smoke the non-smokers has to suffer ! I don’t think do

To Andy - double the cost? who do you think you are!
To David - What about the exhaust fumes that come from your car, why should I inhale that, when I am walking along a path!

It would have been fairer to have some none-smoking pubs & some smoking allowed pubs (decided by some sort of licence or something), so that we all had a choice! You bang on about your human rights, what about smokers human rights and rights to live in a free country!
