A group of friends from North Wales is setting off on a once in a lifetime adventure today - a charity trek to the Everest base camp.
The trip is expected to take about a month.
Phil Jones, of Cerrigydrudion, a welder who works with Ifor Williams trailers at Corwen, says the money he raises will go towards the appeal fund set up for paralysed Bala rugby player Bryan (Yogi) Davies who broke his neck in his last match before retirement.
He is joined by Dr Dermot Norton, GP from Cerrigydrudion, tools salesman Terry Hooson, also of Cerrigydrudion, and Mike Griffiths of Sychdyn near Mold.
All three are raising funds for children in Nepal and local people are also sponsoring Phil’s wife, Dilys Jones Ellis, deputy head at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd at Cynwyd near Corwen, who is raising funds for a education in the country.
They say it is difficult to tell how much money will be raised until all the sponsorship money comes in but they and others have been working hard to ensure it is a financial success.
Anyone wishing to support them with sponsorship can call (01490) 420555.
