Fraud suspect before court

A 57-year-old man appeared at Market Drayton magistrates today accused of conning pensioners out of more than £1 million.

Michael Tomlinson, of Pillory Street, Nantwich, is charged with 21 counts of deception and one of fraudulent trading.

The financial advisor declined to enter a plea today and magistrates adjourned the case until May 7 to be committed to the crown court.

He was released on conditional bail.

Tomlinson was arrested after an investigation by West Mercia Constabulary’s Economic Crime Unit.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 1998 and 2005.
