Old car engines dumped in yard

Fly-tippers have dumped old engines on a site near to a car park in a Shropshire town.

Officials in Bishop’s Castle today spoke out about the unwanted car engines, which were left in the auction yard by the car park near the town’s King’s Head pub.

Town mayor Jim Gaffney urged people to contact the local authority with reports of fly-tippers.

“There are car engines dumped at the back of the King’s Head,” he said.

“The best way to get them dealt with is for the people who are complaining about it to take it up with the property owners, Punch Taverns, or ring the Environment Agency via South Shropshire District Council,” Mr Gaffney added.

Former mayor Jane Carroll, a leading member of the Bishop’s Castle Tourist Group, said that the area was a mess and she was hoping to get funding from Advantage West Midlands to improve the look of the site and surrounding area.
