Wolves boss Mick McCarthy saluted his side for sending a statement of intent to the rest of the Championship after their 3-1 win at Burnley - but warned them they must repeat the feat against Scunthorpe tomorrow night.Their top six hopes took a serious battering at Preston last week but a crucial win at Burnley ensures the season stays alive for McCarthy’s inconsistent side.

Their up and down form piled the pressure on ahead of the trip to Turf Moor but Wolves coped admirably, notching the win thanks to goals from Seyi Olofinjana, Michael Gray and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
And while the boss admitted Wolves needed to take three points off promotion rivals Burnley to keep them in the hunt he felt that they had looked comfortable throughout on a satisfying afternoon.
“We were never out of it but three points here makes a big difference,” he said.
“To get back on track we probably needed to win here. While we played well in midweek it didn’t matter because we didn’t get any points.
“So it was nice to continue the performance and this time I think we got what we deserved with a win.
“So far the only thing we’ve been consistent with is our inconsistency just like everyone in this league.
“Burnley are one of our competitors for a play-off spot and taking three points off them makes a big difference.
“I hope it sends out a message that we are still involved but we got to do it again on Tuesday.
“We’ve done it away from home and now we’ve got to do it at Molineux.
“I don’t want 22,000 people turning up thinking that because we beat Burnley it’s a foregone conclusion.
“It will be a tough match and I hope everyone realises we need to be together and right on our game.
McCarthy was full of praise for Seyi Olofinjana, who turned in a man of the match display after his recall.
