Play-offs still on, insists Henry

Karl HenryKarl Henry today kicked off the build-up to Wolves’ potentially make-or-break trip to Burnley by insisting: “We still believe we can do it.”

The Molineux men suffered another setback in their push for the top six on Tuesday as they crashed to a dispiriting defeat against Preston – leaving them languishing in 11th place with just 11 games left.

while Henry has confessed Wolves are running out of games to make up the five point gap, he insists the players are convinced they can still turn things around.

“Time is running out but we have to keep going and working hard,” he said.

“We know we can put a run together. It’s not just quite worked for us over the last two games, but we will keep going.

“It’s been well-documented how the league is so tight this season and how everyone is beating everyone else.”

The Wolves midfielder shared the disappointment of the supporters after Tuesday’s defeat but insisted it wasn’t disastorous for the play-off campaign.

“Last week against Southampton we were terrible, but we got two good wins in the away games before that and then Preston was an opportunity missed,” he said.

“That could have been ten points out of 12 which would have been a really good run.”

Henry admits Wolves need to be more ruthless than they were at Preston on Tuesday.

“In terms of our performance at Preston I think we did well and it was against the run of play that they got their penalty which got the crowd up and behind them,” he said.

“Maybe we had chances ourselves to kill the game and go 2-0 up.

“We need to be more ruthless in not conceding goals as well.”
