Burlesque show in move to bigger hall

Kitty Kat ClubA burlesque show featuring three self-taught Shropshire dancers is proving so popular that it has had to find a bigger venue.

The Kitty Kat Club, which was established a year ago, is a throwback to 1950s’ cabaret stripteases and glamour. The performances have proved so popular that ‘Eva De Laurentiis’, ‘Raven Meadows’ and ‘Lola LeNore’ have had to move their March 28 show, Malice in Wonderland, to Shifnal Memorial Hall.

The group was started in Shrewsbury by Richie Vincent and the girls were fresh to the art of burlesque dancing.

Mr Vincent said: “The girls are self-taught, but have been involved in performing arts.

“The first time they performed, a year ago, they were fresh to it, but now they are very skilled.

“We’ve had such a positive reaction at previous performances. We have had to turn away about 40 people in Shrewsbury.

“So we are moving to Shifnal where the hall can hold 130 people.”

A guest artist known as Cherie will perform belly dancing and there will be rock’n'roll from Shrewsbury-based Hot Rod 55.

All of the girls will perform two routines and then perform together.

Mr Vincent, who also plays double bass in Hot Rod 55, said: “It’s 1950s-style cabaret striptease, but the undergarments stay on.

“By moving to Shifnal we hope to encompass a bigger catchment area, with people from Shrewsbury, Telford Birmingham and beyond attending.”

Tickets are £10 and need to be pre-booked. For details and to book, call Mr Vincent on 07944 654788.
