Hospital and school left cash

Llanfyllin High School and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, near Oswestry, have been left £25,000 each in a legacy.

The money was left by Dorothy Bynner Jones, of Underhill Lane, Pant.

She died last August and left an estate valued at £1,946.594 gross and £1,929.547 net.

She left her estate mostly to relatives and £50,000 to split between the school and the hospital in Gobowen, while £5,000 was left to Leonard Cheshire Homes, Dolywern, in the Ceiriog Valley.

Solicitor Kevin Thomas said he was unsure why she chose to leave money to the hospital. But he added: “She was a former pupil of Llanfyllin High School so I think that has to be the primary reason. Her brother was also an ex-pupil.”

He added: “With the legacy to Dolywern, she was on the League of Friends Committee for many years, not recently, but I think in the 60s and 70s.”
