Jamie Vermiglio has been given the green light to return to AFC Telford United training - but two more injured players have had setbacks on the road to recovery.Vermiglio had a protective cast on his broken toe removed after a scan yesterday and has been told he can start light training straight away.
But centre-back Vaughan Thomas (hamstring) and midfielder Carl Rodgers (calf) have both been told they are at least a week away from a return to action.
Both players had been pencilled in to play a part in tomorrow’s reserve team clash with Kidderminster Harriers at the New Bucks Head, but that was ruled out by the club physios at training last night.
“Jamie can start doing some light training but he can’t start kicking a ball and joining in with full training for two weeks,” assistant manager Larry Chambers revealed.
“The break’s healing well but it’s not completely set yet. But Jamie thinks it’s great news and he’s happy.
“He joined in with the running last night and he did some body work, and we know he’ll look after himself.”
Chambers is pessimistic about the chances of having either Thomas or Rodgers in the squad for the Blue Square North clash at Gainsborough on Saturday, but hopes they could be available for the visit of Nuneaton for another league game on Tuesday.
“We were hoping they’d have a run-out for the reserves tomorrow but it looks as if they’re still a week away,” he added.
“Saturday looks like it might be a bit too soon for them, but we’re looking at Nuneaton for them.”
