Takeaway plan may be backed

Proposals for a hot food takeaway outlet on Whitchurch’s Wrexham Road industrial estate now look likely to be given the go-ahead, in spite of dozens of letters of objection to the scheme.

North Shropshire’s planning committee is due to approve plans to convert the former Wrexham Road Garage to a takeaway and office at a meeting on Wednesday.

Planning permission for the change was previously refused, on the grounds a takeaway would generate too much noise and unpleasant odours and would be detrimental to neighbouring properties. However, the latest application is being recommended for approval.

More than 50 letters flooded in to North Shropshire District Council outlining residents’ fears that a takeaway would cause extra noise, smells, litter, a lack of parking and concerns over extra congestion.

Further objections have been received from West Mercia Police, who fear the move might increase levels of crime, and from Whitchurch Town Council.

A report to go before councillors on Wednesday claims the application now aims to overcome some of the issues.

how on earth they can say that it is to be built on an industial estate is ridiculous. It is bad enough that is being allowed to go ahead on a mainly residential area, but i think that whitchurch has got enough food outlets already.

    i think it is awful,

i live opposite the said “industrial unit”,which is mainly houses.

There are many cars on wrexham road, you get drivers roaring down the road anyway, on many times narrowly missing lorries and pedestrians.

The go green car rental has been running for months. Lorries have to park on the road, as the car rental firm take up several spaces!

Do we really want to add to this problem a all night chip shop, pollution, rubbish, chimneys over our houses? NO NO NO! (we already have several chip shops!

There is going to be a accident one day! maybe the town will sit up and take notice then.
