Camera call for merchant staff

cooks-in-wellington.jpg

Meet the staff of “Cook Provision Merchant” on the corner of New Street, Wellington. This is another picture loaned to us by Peter Wyatt, of Sutton Heights, whose uncle Percy Jones is on the left.

The other two are unidentified, but the one in the middle was the proprietor of the shop which later became Macfisheries. Percy was an apprentice and later had his own business in Madeley.

It was Jones’s greengrocers, next to the Jubilee nut and bolt works in the High Street. Mr Wyatt thinks this picture is probably from the 1930s.
