Former Newport cricket all-rounder Rajat Bhatia has been signed up to join the all-star international cast in the Indian Premier League.
Bhatia, who has starred with bat and ball over the last two seasons at the Birmingham League division two club but will not return to Audley Avenue this season, has joined the Delhi Daredevils.
Bhatia will be playing alongside a number of the world’s top players, with Australian paceman Glenn McGrath, New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori, Tillakaratne Dillshan of Sri Lanka and Pakistan duo Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Asif amongst the Delhi squad.
They will be captained by flamboyant Indian opener Virender Sehwag. The league is scheduled to start in April and will last for 44 days involving 59 matches.

Rajat is a class player, it will be a shame if he doesn’t return to Shropshire at some stage this summer as he is well worth watching when he’s playing.
Good luck to him its an excellent level of cricket he he has reached.
