Midfielder Dave Edwards today warned Wolves fans the Championship run-in could get “ugly” as the club’s promotion hopes reach crunch point.
Frustrated by Tuesday’s Molineux postponement, Wolves head for Saturday’s tough Crystal Palace clash needing to build bridges with disgruntled fans.
Former Shrewsbury Town midfielder Edwards said: “When the fans get on your back you have to stand up and be counted - and I’d lke to think I’m man enough and strong enough to do that.
“Of the two games I’ve played at home we got a good result against Sheffield Wednesday and at times played some decent stuff against Stoke. The result though wasn’t good, and maybe we were a bit naive at times in not shutting up shop when we should have done.
“The fans have been great to me so far and have got as much right as anyone to voice their opinion. But the last few games haven’t been good enough, we know that. I think we’ve got the mental strength to deal with the pressure.
“But it might come to a point where it won’t be pretty or eye-catching football, we just need the three points.”
