Some find the Smart Fortwo cute, and generally, it is. But if you rolled up to a Go Kart track in one of these, they’d probably wave the flag and send you careering off with the rest of the pint-sized racers.

Ignorant to the horrors that might lie within, I naively clicked on the article and glanced through that monstrous gallery, believing myself to have the strength to persevere without succumbing to my own sense of disgust.
I failed. Miserably, I might add.
In my not-so-humble opinion, designing cars like that should be punishable by death, or at least a very stern ticking-off. I just don’t understand how the Ford KA didn’t make the list!
Fiat manufacture consistently ugly cars, and always have done. Nissa Micras are an abomination. Most current Renaults are offensive on the eye. Nova saloons were utterly detestable. Corsas are just vile little cars anyway, regardless of appearance. Austin Princess? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgh !
Well done, Lara! A worthy selection of cars designed by a man in a straight-jacket and a packet of crayons.
However (you knew that was coming, didn’t you ;-))
How could one possibly leave out the Toyota Yaris Verso!?!?! A car subjected to a long, and sustained burst of fire from the ugly gun! Or the new Subaru Impreza? So ugly that the manufacturer itself has commenced a re-design before the car has gone on sale!
Not to mention the Ford Edsel (I wish I could post some pics on here…..), the Xsara Picasso, Perodua Kenari, Skoda Roomster, Vauxhall Belmont, Alfa Romeo Arna, Chrysler Crossfire Coupe, Peugeot 308, BMW 1-series, Audi Q7, any Wartburg, Aston Martin Virage etc.
Don’t have nightmares…….
I’ve always had a distaste for the skip on wheels (PT Cruiser) although I know many who love it.
The Porsche Cayenne is ugly, but to me it is like an ugly first born. I know it’s repulsive but I love it just for that reason, and the fact that it’s a 911 that can drive up a hill!
I’m disappointed that BMW’s didn’t make it. They all look gregarious with the X5 the only ‘good looking’ one purely because it’s a 4×4 so it’s supposed to look ugly! The Z3 looked like a pram and I think the Z4 looks like the designers folded the drawings before submitting the plans.
The current batch of French cars are terrible. In their preparation for Hydrogen power they are fobbing us off with massive grills (to aid future ventilation and with the stupid big bumpers they look like fat Cheshire cats with braces.
There are some gorgeous cars out there. The Lamborghini Gallardo, Aston Martin Vanquish and the Ferrari F355 (a tad dated) are all sex on wheels. I’m warming to Jaguar at long last and I can see the new XK being a popular choice.
The designers are a weird yet brilliant bunch. It was the designer of the Citroen 2CV that drew the Lamborghini Countach after all.
What?!?!?!
Marcello Gandini designed the 2CV?????
I must investigate further!
:-0
Speaking as a designer, most of the mercs and bmw’s are just plain dull - at least the pt cruiser has a retro look about it and in my opinion is well designed. I never give the above two a second glance when I pass them - seen it all before… they are so boring in design that they actually make themselves ugly!!!
The X-90 is a fantastic car. I had one for several years and reluctantly had to sell it.
They are like golddust now - very difficult to find.
