Marc takes to the catwalk

marc-armstrong.jpgA Shropshire teenager has enjoyed the bright lights of London Fashion Week - taking to the catwalk for one of Britain’s most popular designers.

Marc Armstrong joined a line-up of professional models to strut his stuff in creations by Nicole Farhi as she showed off her new collection for autumn and winter 2008/2009.

The 17-year-old trainee hotel manager, from Telford, was chosen for the glitzy display at a casting in the capital after being recommended by a leading model agency.

Now he is hoping his first experience of London Fashion Week will lead to a more permanent modelling career.

“It was fantastic experience which I thoroughly enjoyed,” said Marc, who works at the newly-refurbished Telford Golf and Spa Hotel.

“It was busy and hectic with lots going on and it was great being part of it all. There were buyers, designers and journalists everywhere. I love the designs by Nicole Farhi and I was really pleased to be chosen for that show.”

Marc said there were lots of celebrities mingling at the shows including Marks & Spencer’s favourite Erin O’Connor and singer Lily Allen.

“I would like to take on modelling more permanently,” he added, “but that would mean a move to London possibly because castings are done at such short notice and it can be difficult travelling back and forth.”
