The idea is to show the public exactly how the RAF provides vital support to British soldiers in the world’s danger zones. The demonstration was highly acclaimed when introduced at last year’s show.

Show bosses claim this year’s revised and upgraded display on June 1 will be even more thrilling.

Operational frontline aircraft will display their various roles, while support helicopters and transport aircraft will underline the assistance the RAF provides to land forces on a global basis.

The RAF Events Team says its display combines aircraft, ground troops and special effects to provide an exciting and dramatic display.

It is hailed as an illustration of RAF air power and a fitting way to commemorate the RAF’s 90th anniversary.

Squadron Leader Andy Pawsey, team leader, said: “We are looking forward to bringing our demonstration back to Cosford with even more noise, thrills and spectacular action. The demonstration will again illustrate the operations undertaken round the world by the RAF today.”

Already booked for the air show are the famous Red Arrows aerobatics display team, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the RAF Falcons free-fall parachute display team.

Air show co-ordinator Norman Branagh said: “We are building up a five-hour flying display by introducing a number of historic aircraft, many of them recalling World War Two and the immediate post-war years.”
