Lonely goose Colin finds match

Together now - Lucy, left, and ColinLove is in the air for Colin the Shropshire goose who has found his sweetheart in time for Valentines Day.

Colin, the friendly gander of Whispering Trees Stables in Highley, has finally found his perfect partner - Lucy, from Stretton Westwood, Much Wenlock.

Dave Fulton, of Hazelwells Road, in Highley, appealed through the Shropshire Star to anyone who may want to help Colin find love after he lost his “wife” to a fox several years ago.

Now Lucy, who also lost her partner, is getting to know Colin in a pen at the stables.

Mr Fulton said they seemed to take to each other straight away. “We are keeping them locked in the pen together for now so they can get to know each other and so Lucy doesn’t run off,” he said.

“I’m really pleased that Colin has found someone, it’s worked out very well.”

A man from Oswestry also showed an interest in donating his three geese and a gander to keep Colin company but after some consideration it was felt that the ganders may not get on and it could cause more upset.

Colin and Lucy now hope to enjoy countryside walks to beat the winter blues and cosy nights in a pen together.

Mr Fulton said his daughter’s horse was at the stables and he often goes down there to help her out.

“I tend to see a lot of Colin the goose when I’m there and he always appeared to be extremely lonely, so I decided to help find him a partner.”
