Campaigners fighting for a crackdown on speeding motorists through a Powys/Shropshire community are calling for more to be done before someone is seriously hurt.
Calls to tackle some of the speed limit problems on the B4393 between Four Crosses and Coedway were put in place last year when limits were lowered from 40mph to 30mph.
But in some areas the limit was raised from 40mph to 50mph, which has left some residents fearing for their safety.
They claim the new limit is inappropriate and motorists are driving less sensibly.
A spokesman for Llandrinio Community Council said seven accidents had occurred on the road in the last year, most because of excessive speeds.
She said: “Many pedestrians have been left fearing for their safety ever since the limit was increased, we hope something can be done before someone is seriously injured.”
The matter will be discussed by Powys County Council’s Montgomeryshire committee on Wednesday.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: “The feedback from residents states speeding is much worse now. Patrols have been paying attention to the area as and when duties allow, but I feel there is more that can be considered to resolve the issue completely.”
