Teenager is found hanged

Angeline Fuller, who was 18, with her boyfriend Joel WilliamsAn 18-year-old former Shrewsbury woman has become the latest young person to die in a county which has suffered a spate of suicides.Angeline Fuller was found hanging at a house in Nantymoel, Bridgend, South Wales, in the early hours of Monday.

Police said they are not linking the death to 13 other suspected suicides of young people in Bridgend over the past 12 months.

A family friend said Miss Fuller, a shop assistant who is believed to have moved to the area from Shrewsbury, suffered from depression.

Today Richard Ewels, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, confirmed the force had been contacted by South Wales Police on Monday to assist with notifying relatives of the girl in Shropshire, but they had already been informed.

Sarah Shaw, 39, originally from Shrewsbury but now living in Nantymoel, said Miss Fuller, known as Angie, was also from Shrewsbury but had moved to South Wales six months after meeting boyfriend Joel Williams.

“I’ve known Angie since she was five,” said Mrs Shaw. “We moved down here about five years ago from Shrewsbury. I went to visit her mother, as I do regularly, and while I was there Angie said ‘Can I come back with you?’, because she was feeling down.

“We thought we would have a party, and that was when she met Joel Williams, which was about two years ago.

“She moved here about six months later. I knew they would get on but I didn’t think they would get on that well.”

Mrs Shaw added: “I don’t think there’s anything to do with the other deaths. I don’t think there are any suspicious circumstances.

“Angie has two little sisters and they are just devastated. They are crying buckets.”

Miss Fuller was pronounced dead by paramedics who were called to her house at 12.55am on Monday. A South Wales Police spokeswoman said there were no suspicious circumstances.

Coroner’s officer Mark Adams, who confirmed Miss Fuller was found hanging, said an inquest would be opened on Friday.

Seven of the young people found hanging in the past year are believed to have used social networking site Bebo.

South Wales Police have played down links between the deaths but said they are looking into a number of sudden deaths in the area.
