Walker, 68, in ice fall

A 68-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital from Shropshire’s Long Mynd after falling on ice and breaking her ankle.

The alarm was raised by another member of her party, after he and his dog walked about three quarters of a mile to get help.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to a valley between Long Synalds and Ashes Hollow at 1.15pm on Saturday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said a 68-year-old from Leamington Spa fractured her ankle after slipping on ice. The woman was airlifted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
