Taxi phone lines cut off

Drivers at a Shropshire taxi firm were left all revved up with nowhere to go as they lost out on more than £3,000 worth of jobs when its phone lines were cut off.

Staff at Comet Cars, Betton Street, Shrewsbury, said their ISDN lines went down at about 5am yesterday and, despite calls to telephone providers, they were unable to get it restored.

Openreach, which owns the network, today apologised for the loss of the lines which occurred following an administration error over a stop date for the premises.

The firm is set to move to a new home in Castle Foregate later this month.
