Elliott vows to win over fans

Stephen ElliottWolves’ under-fire striker Stephen Elliott today insisted the boo boys won’t faze him as he looks to relaunch his Molineux career from the wing. Some supporters remain unconvinced about the summer signing from Sunderland despite him boasting the best goals to game ratio with four strikes in 10 starts.

He was booed by a section of fans when he replaced Andy Keogh in the New Year’s Day game against Sheffield United but has retained the support of boss Mick McCarthy.

For his part Elliott is happy to put himself in the firing line as he looks to prove his worth to the Molineux faithful.

“I haven’t really experienced this before but I will just play through it. It doesn’t bother me really,” he said.

Very quickly

“I just want to get on with my game and do my best for myself, the club and the supporters. We weren’t doing well before the Scunthorpe game, but a few results can change around very quickly.

“I’m still confident of getting back on track and I’m happy to put myself in the firing line.

Wolves’ win at Scunthorpe ended a run of eight winless games and breathed fresh life into the Molineux promotion push after a turbulent two months.

Good attitude son. Keep working and it will come good. Maybe a wider position is the future. I think Stephen is just too small and lightweight for a centre forward in the Championship.
