Board shows date of snapshot

The board being held on the lap of one of these children from Kemberton School very helpfully gives the date, 1926, without which, all these years on, we would have been left guessing as to when this photo was taken.

How many class pictures taken today have somebody holding up the date? It may not seem very important now, but decades in the future the lack of dates on pictures will have descendants and historians left scratching their heads.
