Former Shrewsbury Town and Telford United scout Ron Jukes has died at the age of 79.
Jukes spent spells with both of Shropshire’s leading clubs, as well as at Wolves, during a scouting career which spanned almost 50 years.
He worked with Graham Turner at Shrewsbury in the late 1970s and early 1980s, before joining the same boss at Wolves where he discovered their record goalscorer Steve Bull.
Jukes made a surprise return to the county in in 2003 when he joined then Telford boss Mick Jones as chief scout,
He helped the Bucks complete a string of high-profile signings including Lee Mills, Scott Green and Fitzroy Simpson before the club went into liquidation following the collapse of the business empire of chairman Andy Shaw.
