AFC Telford United new boy Vaughan Thomas has set his sights on completing a famous ‘league and cup double’ this season.
The 30-year-old tough-tackling defender has already created headlines in the FA Cup by being part of the Chasetown team which reached the third round of the FA Cup.
That fairytale run ended with a 3-1 defeat to Cardiff last week, but Thomas has left one charge for glory for another by joining the Bucks push for promotion from Blue Square North.
“It’s turning into a really great season,” said BT-worker Thomas, who has also had spells with Willenhall and Redditch.
“The Cup run was the type of thing that you never think will happen to you and I’m chuffed to bits to be joining Telford now.
“I’ve had a great two years at Chasetown but Telford are a massive club who you can’t turn down.
“I’ve worked with Rob (Smith) and Larry (Chambers) at Willenhall before so I know what they are about.
“It will be great to be playing in front of huge crowds every week and to become part of a promotion push.
“I think the club has had two promotions in the last three years so to be challenging again is fantastic and shows what Rob and Larry have done.
“The lads have been great here so far this season and hopefully we can push on and get a play-off place at least.”
