Call to pull down club

A fireman dampens down the interior of the bingo hall.Pressure was mounting on a developer today to get on with demolishing a fire-hit former bingo hall in Telford.

The old Royal Bingo Club in Dawley closed in early 2006 and David Poyner Homes last year won permission to knock it down and build flats.

It has been broken in recent months and was this week gutted by fire in two separate suspected arsons.

Telford MP David Wright has started a petition calling for demolition to start immediately. Developer David Poyner said he expected to appoint a demolition contractor on Monday.
