Inquest on murdered man

Michael Davis-BinghamAn inquest was opened today on a former senior Telford & Wrekin Council official found murdered at his home. Michael Davis-Bingham was head of economic development until June.

His body was found at his address in Wolverhampton last week. The 43-year-old property developer died of a single stab wound.

City coroner Mr Richard Allen adjourned today’s hearing to a date to be fixed.

Detectives from West Midlands Police hunting Mr Bingham’s killer returned to the area last night.

They trawled the streets until 3am today to speak to residents and motorists to see if they could recall anything one week on from his death.

Catherine Preece, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “No arrests have been made in connection with the death of Michael Davis-Bingham.

“A number of officers were out in the area last night where they spoke to a number of people. They were trying to jog their memories to see if they saw or heard anything last week. Our inquiries are on-going.”

Mr Davis-Bingham was born in the Caribbean before moving to Toronto, Canada, as a child, later living in the USA.

He came to the UK in 2002 and lived and worked in Telford.

    I am shocked!
Barry and I were friends in high school, and he was a wonderful guy. I am so very sad to hear that he has died so young and in such a tragic manner.

Rest in peace, Barry (that’s the name I used with him back in that day)
