Police are warning residents in Mid Wales to beware of a postal scam.
Constable Gareth Slaymaker, Dyfed-Powys Police communities and partnerships officer, based in Newtown, said conmen were posting cards through letter boxes claiming they had been unable to deliver a parcel and asking the householder to call a number starting with 090 to arrange delivery.
Constable Slaymaker said: “This phone number is actually a premium rate number and is very expensive to call and, at the end of the day, there is no parcel.”

BT are obviously collecting this money through their phone bills and forwarding it to the scammer`s bank account; can the police not get these details.
