Ludlow Town Council’s lengthy search for a new clerk could soon be over. Interviews for the position are being held today and tomorrow.
Five candidates are being interviewed for the job, before the council’s appointments panel receives a report tomorrow evening.
The job was left open after Paul Russell stood down following an altercation with Councillor Tony Pound.
Police investigated but no charges were brought. Mr Russell was suspended and left soon after with a near £20,000 pay-off.
Richard Walden has been brought in on a temporary basis until a new person is found for the £41,000 a year job.
A first search failed to find a suitable person.
Mr Walden said there would not be an announcement tomorrow.
“We may have to negotiate between the panel and the chosen candidate, but we are expecting to reach a decision and make an announcement soon,” he said.
