Smith semi line-up completed

With only two “dead” matches to be completed by Bridgnorth in Zone D, the 2007/8 Ken Smith Trophy semi-finalists have emerged.

Lilleshall Hall’s effort in Zone A to displace leaders Shifnal was a case of what might have been. Both sides won four of their matches but Lilleshall lost out by half a game and were only two holes behind Shifnal’s impressive total of 41 holes up.

While Zone B winners Oswestry meet Zone C runaway winners Llany-mynech, an impressive charge was made by 2003/4 winners Hawkstone Park in Zone C to leapfrog defending champions, Ludlow and claim runners-up spot.

2005/6 champions The Herefordshire have duly won Zone D with four wins and two draws, 14 games and 57 holes up and they meet Shifnal in the second semi-final.

Both semi-finals are due to be completed on a home and away basis before the end of February.
