The Telford International Centre has, over the last seven days, been transformed into a snooker venue as it awaits the arrival of the Maplin UK Championships - but what goes on behind the scenes?

With four main tables and a number of practice tables - plus a BBC studio and miles of wiring to prepare - staff from World Snooker have spent the last week working night and day.

Video journalist James Shaw was on hand to find out just what goes on behind the scenes at one of snooker’s biggest tournaments - and why Telford is seen as an ideal venue.

The Maplin UK Championships begin on Saturday, December 8, with the final on Sunday, December 16.
