Salon trip for Ugly Sisters

As the panto season approaches, the Ugly Sisters from Cinderella want to ensure they look their very best - so a trip to the beauty salon was in order.

The sisters, Trinny and Susannah, enjoyed a morning of pampering and preening at Oakengates-based beauticians and hairdressers Nutcrackers.

The Ugly Sisters will be starring in Cinderella at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place from Wednesday next week until January 6.

Victoria Cotterell, theatre spokeswoman, said: “Admittedly, beautifying the sisters can be a long and arduous task, but the Nutcracker staff were more than happy to lend a hand and made sure they were ready for what may be their biggest challenge to date.”

Meanwhile, preparations for a Norfolk pantomime haven’t been going so smoothly - after it was decided to ban actors throwing sweets into the audience because of health and safety concerns.

The move to halt the long standing tradition at the Gorleston Pavilion Theatre in Gorleston for fear of being sued has been branded “ridiculous” by a local councillor, Bertie Collins.

At this year’s Babes in the Woods and Robin Hood productions, the sweets will be dropped into the front row and distributed to the children by ushers. Previously, they had been thrown from the stage by the pantomime dame.
