Post office from the past

The village post office at Childs Ercall, 1922.

At the rate things are going, the village post office will be a thing of the past before we know it. For many villages, of course, it already is a thing of the past.

This is the village post office at Childs Ercall, as depicted in a postcard - which would, no doubt, have been sold in the post office there - which was franked on July 13, 1922.

The thin sign next to the window says “Telegraph Office” and the lady outside is presumably either the postmistress or a member of staff.
