Arsonists strike for fourth time

Tuesday 4th December 2007, 11:44AM GMT

One of the earlier arson attacks.Arsonists have struck an industrial estate near Oswestry for the fourth time in less than a week.

Another vehicle was targeted in the attack at the Rednal Industrial Estate, West Felton, in the early hours of this morning.

The vehicle is believed to have been an old car used for spare parts.

A spokeswoman for the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said they received a call at 12.54am today and the fire was out by about 1.15am.

She added an officer will be attending the scene later today to investigate.

The incident follows a spate of arson attacks at the estate. On Wednesday crews were called to fires involving a coach and a lorry, on Thursday to a garage forecourt where seven cars were set on fire and on Friday, three vehicles were targeted.

It has led to a higher police presence in the area and an additional, fully crewed fire service appliance being sent to Oswestry due to the number of fires.

Police spokeswoman, Maria Hawkaluk said: “We were called to another fire, believed to have been started deliberately, at the Rednal Industrial Estate, just before 1am today. A vehicle was on fire.

“Shortly after the fire was discovered police received reports of a car heard leaving a nearby farmyard at speed, but no trace of the vehicle was found.”

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area, should contact Oswestry police on 08457 444888.

Where are the police? You’d expect them to be patrolling the area by now…

This is flaming awful, you’d expect the police to be really turning the heat up at the moment. Yet they seem to have lost their spark, putting this crimewave on the back burner. I think its about time the constabulary fought fire with fire. Find the culprits, tackle them hard and put the crime spree into meltdown.

    “Where are the Police”?

That`s the question everyone is asking. All we see nowadays are the CSO`s and not proper policemen and women. Get them back on the street and this sort of thing wouldn`t be happening.
