Building set to start in Spring

development1.jpgWork on a 106-home estate on the former Bridgnorth College site is set to start in spring next year, it was revealed today. Property development company Persimmon is behind the plan.

Persimmon purchased the 5.1 acre former education site on Stourbridge Road from Shropshire County Council.

The sale was given the go-ahead on the condition that the company spends 12 months looking for a developer to build a hotel on part of the site.

But no developer has been found so Persimmon submitted an application for housing on the whole site.

A spokesman for Persimmon today said: “It is anticipated that works on the 106 homes will start in spring next year.”

The proposal include 70 two-bedroom apartments, of which 27 will be affordable, 18 detached houses with three and four bedrooms, 13 three-bedroom semi-detached homes and five terraced homes.

Meanwhile, a new housing development could also be built on the site of an agricultural haulage company next to Alveley Working Men’s Club.

Bosses at haulage firm Lyndon Alveley want to build seven new homes on the land next to the working men’s club, on Kidderminster Road.

The 0.7 acre site is currently used by lorries visiting the agricultural yard for parking.

But Lyndon wants to turn it into housing and has submitted a planning application in conjunction with J Ross Developments to Bridgnorth District Council.

A spokesman for Lyndon said today: “We have submitted an application for seven houses.

“If it goes through the haulage yard will be relocating.”

How long before Bridgnorth turns into one enormous housing estate ??! Every green space seems to be earmarked for ‘development’
No industry. No college. No green space. Plenty of homes though , if you can afford them (ie you’re not from Bridgnorth)
