Distance: Three-and-a-half miles.
Terrain: Easy walking mainly on lanes and fieldpaths with a lengthy climb at the end.
1. Start north of Rowley crossroads three miles south-west of Westbury. Walk down to the crossroads, turn left for a few yards before crossing a stile on the right into a garden.
2. Continue over the next stile and descend the field to a footbridge and stile leading into a small wood at the bottom.
3. Cross over and bear left in the wood, following a stream on the left, cross a stile into a field and climb half-left to the top before continuing down the left-hand field boundary to a stile.
4. Continue alongside the fence in the next field, cross another stile and descend to a gate by another wood in the bottom left-hand corner.
5. Pass through, cross a stream and follow the right-hand boundary to a gate leading out on to a farm track.
Turn left along this as far as a bridge and stile on the left.
6. Cross over into the field and climb half-right to a stile in front of the wood.
7. Cross over into the field and climb half-right to a stile in front of the wood.
8. Cross over and continue along the field boundary until reaching a stile leading into the wood, cross this and follow the path through the wood, pass through a gate and continue ahead through he field until reaching a fence on the right giving access to a concrete drive.
9. Follow this down the hill and just after passing an old barn turn right over a double stile leading into a field.
10. Walk half-right across this to a stile, continue over three more stiles, before bearing left on to a grassy track which emerges on to a lane on the outskirts of Brockton.
11. Turn right up the lane and begin the long climb back to the start by way of Hampton Beech. There are several places to stop for breath and to admire the views.
