Mick McCarthy branded Wolves’ wasteful draw with Plymouth as “two points lost” after his side missed a hatful of chances at Home Park.
The Molineux men were superb going forward but couldn’t add the killer touch to finish off their hosts - and were made to pay by Plymouth substitute Nick Chadwick.
And that left McCarthy a frustrated manager.
“We were profligate in front of goal -I cant say too much else,” he said.
“I thought it was a terrific performance but wasteful in front of goal - I don’t think there can be too many arguments about that.
“We took the one chance but we had plenty of chances and I can’t describe it as anything other than two points lost.
“I’d like to see the equaliser again because I think Jody’s maybe been pulled back. That aside, we had enough chances for it to have finished four or five one.”
Chadwick’s goal was debatable, with the striker appearing to haul back Craddock in the build-up.
But McCarthy refused to dwell on that incident, preferring instead to consider a performance that was among the best of the season from his improving Wolves side.
“That goal shouldn’t have even made a dent on what the result was going to be,” he said.
“We played very well I thought but I’m not going to say it’s the best we’ve played because we’ve drawn.
“It was an all round good performance and I should be sat here with a smile on my face discussing how we’ve taken three points.
“Players don’t mean to miss chances, we just need to be more clinical when we create them.”
Wolves may not have taken the three points but there were plenty of other reasons for optimism.
Michael Kightly, Andy Keogh, Stephen Elliott and Stephen Ward all performed well, with McCarthy hailing his right winger as getting close to the levels he achieved last season.
