Well its back to college again and time to reflect upon the changes that have occurred over the last year, writes our Teen Blogger Rhian.
I remember that a little while after applying for the teen blogger spot, I told my dad that I was sort of glad that I hadn’t been chosen because it looked like I might have quite a bit of college work to do.
Talk about “famous last words.” That same morning I got an email congratulating me on getting the role and an invitation to visit the Shropshire star offices - which was pretty cool.
And to be honest, whilst putting my blog together can sometimes be a bit of a drag if I’ve got other things to do, I quite enjoy reading all the comments people make because at least I know that someones read what I wrote.
Then, there was the transition from school to college.
I started my course knowing full well that it would involve a lot of physical fitness training, but there I was, determined to use my hair straighteners every morning. At least my tutor was pleased when I turned up this year with my hair tied back and I was pretty pleased with myself too, when I only took half the time to complete my initial run that it had taken me last year.
Then, just before last Christmas, I got a pretty decent part time job in a high street store which later became a permanent position. I not only like having a bit of money to spend, but also the experience that I’ve gained since I’ve worked there, dealing with customers, stock issues and making new friends, and the like has been really useful.
And then last, but not least, there is my boyfriend - he’ll cry if he doesn’t get a mention. He turned up and I haven’t looked back since.
I’m aware that I’m very lucky, but to be fair, it hasn’t all been handed to me on a plate and I think the message I would give anyone who wishes they could improve there life, is not to give up hope and keep trying, I mean really trying, then if it takes a while, your fortunes will improve.
Onwards and Upwards.
