Britain’s three Tour de France heroes - Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish and Geraint Thomas - will be riding at the Shropshire Star Newport Nocturne.
The Olympic hopefuls will be competing in a one-lap time-trial called the Battle for Beijing.
All three gave promising performances in the Tour de France and are figureheads of the new generation of young riders taking a stand against drug cheats.
Competing against them on Newport’s streets will be KLR/Parker International’s Rob Hayles, already an Olympic medallist, plus youngster Simon Holt, of Recycling.
Promoter Nick Jeggo said he was delighted to have Bradley Wiggins - a track gold medallist in the Oympics and World Championships - riding at Britain’s only floodlit bike race.
Mr Jeggo said: “Attracting Mark Cavendish and Geraint Thomas to Newport was a big achievement but now with Bradley coming it’s the icing on the cake.”
The evening will begin with the past masters race for ex-pro riders, followed by the Battle for Beijing and the main elite race.
The Nocturne takes place on September 1 on a 1.2-mile circuit in the centre of Newport. See www.bikerace.co.uk for details.
