The calendar is once again packed with 12 new stunning images which show off Shrewsbury at its very best.It is hot off the presses and is available to buy from the town’s visitor information centre in The Square.

Clare Brown, from the information centre, said last year’s calendar had found homes all around the globe. She said she was confident the 2008 edition would prove equally, if not more, popular.

“The calendar has proved to be an ideal gift for posting abroad to friends and relations,” she said.
“It is also perfect for overseas visitors to take home as a souvenir gift of the town as it is very light,” said the centre assistant.

She added: “The 2007 calendar was sent to all parts of the world including America, Canada, New Zealand and South America.”

The idea was developed by staff at the visitor information centre after they received numerous inquiries about where people could purchase a full colour calendar of the town.

The photographs included are all of the town and surrounding area, highlighting all aspects of the town from the flora and fauna to the buildings and history.

They are all taken by local photographers and are in full colour. The calendar costs £3.49 with an envelope for posting, and is on sale now.

For more details contact the Shrewsbury Visitor Information Centre on (01743) 281200.

The information centre is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 5.30pm and on Sundays between 10am and 4pm.

It is located in the Music Hall, in The Square.

This year’s calendar features photographs of The Abbots House, Shrewsbury Abbey, Shrewsbury Castle, Rowleys House, English Bridge, Fish Street, The Quarry and St Mary’s Church.

Summer images of Shrewsbury Carriage Parade and The Dingle are also included, as the glossy calendar depicts Shrewsbury as the Town of Flowers.

A number of local companies also gave their support for the project by sponsoring a month each.
