Distance: Four Miles.
Terrain: Flat walking on lanes, tracks and canal towpaths. No stiles.

bettisfield1.jpg1. Start your walk at the lane junction at the south end of Bettisfield village. Walk northwards through the village and on reaching the canal bridge cross over, turn left on to the towpath and pass under the bridge.

2. Continue alongside the canal until reaching the next bridge, cross over it and continue through a kissing gate into a large field.

3. Aiming to the right of the cottage by the far boundary, cross the field to another kissing gate, turn left along the lane and right at the next junction.

4. Continue down this lane, passing a restored corn mill on the left, and follow a grassy track alongside a wood to a gate into a large field. Follow the right hand boundary until reaching a broad track next to a cottage on the right.

5. Continue along this track, crossing the border into Shropshire before reaching the entrance to Wem Moss nature reserve on the left.

6. The track eventually reaches a lane on the outskirts of Northwood, turn right into the village and bear right at the junction with the B5063.

7. Continue through the village past the Horse and Jockey and at the first junction on the right turn up the lane to return to Bettisfield. The bi-lingual roadside indicates that you are once more about to cross the border.
